Win a trip to Barcelona Spain competition

Terms & Conditions

  1. The competition is sponsored by Penguin Random House South Africa in collaboration with Jacaranda FM.
  2. The prize consists of two return flights to Barcelona Spain and five nights’ luxury accommodation, with breakfast included, in Barcelona, as well as two signed copies of Origin and tote bags.
  3. The competition is open to South African residents over the age of 18, with a valid passport.
  4. The winner and his/her partner will have to obtain their own visas to Spain.
  5. Entry is possible via www.jacarandafm.com.
  6. The competition will start on Monday 16 October and end Friday 3 November 2017. No late entries will be accepted.
  7. One winner will be selected in a random draw and will be notified by telephone or email by the 10 November 2017. Multiple entries are allowed.
  8. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  9. Penguin Random House South Africa reserves the right to publish any entry in order to promote this competition and the winner may be required for promotional activity.
  10. By entering the competition the entrants agree to receive information from the sponsors with an option to opt out.
  11. Penguin Random House South Africa, and Jacaranda FM will not disclose your details to third parties and will remove you from the database upon request.
  12. The prize is not transferable, non-exchangeable and is not redeemable for cash or other prizes.
  13. Flights to Barcelona will be from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The winner is responsible for arranging transportation to this airport.
  14. The prize does not include: airport transfers in South Africa and Barcelona; Visa costs and application; Any meals and beverages not specified here; Gratuities; Any additional and/or personal costs incurred by the winner and his/her partner and not specified here; Travel insurance.
  15. This competition is not open to employees (or members of their immediate families) of any of the sponsors and participating companies.
  16. Incorrectly completed entries will be disqualified.
  17. Flights must be booked by 15 December 2017 for travel between February 2018 and September 2018.
  18. Dates for flights and accommodation are subject to availability.
  19. Tickets are non-endorsable /non re-routable/non-transferable and an open-jaw ticket is not permitted.
  20. Entry into the competition is acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
  21. Penguin Random House South Africa and partner sponsors accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by the winner as a result of entering the competition or accepting the prize.
  22. Penguin Random House South Africa and partner sponsors reserve the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this competition with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of Penguin Random House South Africa in all matters under its control is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  23. Penguin Random House South Africa shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
